1. Kansas State Loan Repayment Program

Eligibility: Most healthcare professionals with licensure in Kansas.
Benefit/Obligation: Commit to a federally designated health Professional Service Area for a minimum of 2 years, employment must be with a public or nonprofit private agency/facility. Physician and dentists are eligible for up to $30,000 annually for repayment of education debt with all others earning $25,000 annually. One half of each award will be paid at the beginning of the first contract year with the remainder paid at the beginning of the second year.

2. Kansas Bridging Program

Eligibility: Resident physicians having completed one year of post-graduate training in their primary care specialty, with eligibility for Kansas Medical License.
Benefit/Obligation: Residents applying during the first year of residency mar receive the first loan payment of $5,000 during the second year of residency and the second loan payment of $5000 during the third year. Total amount from the state thus is $10,000. Upon completion loan forgiveness of up to $26,000 is offered to physicians of Kansas residency program of Family Practice, Internal medicine, Pediatrics, and Medicine/Pediatrics. Most communities in KS with few exceptions are eligible for participation. For loan forgiveness, 36 continuous months upon completion of their residency program.
